NONI in FIJI:
Noni fruit and leaves have been well known and used in Fiji as Kura (Morinda citrifolia). Noni plants were introduced to the Fiji Islands many centuries ago when the settlers from Polynesia brought the plants and seeds with them to Fiji. The Noni plant flourishes in coastal areas with large green leaves into stately trees of up to 10 metres high.
In Fiji herbal medicine is still popular and noni fruit is eaten to maintain good health. Noni juice is well known for its beneficial properties and noni leaves on sprained joints. Throughout the Pacific the noni plant was a principal method of treatment for nearly every disease imaginable, from reproductive system disorders to broken bones to infectious and inflammatory disorders to weight, skin and hair problems.

    • XERONINE is produced in the body from proxeronine (found in the noni fruit) combining with the enzyme proxeronase in the small intestines. All healthy cells in plants, animals and microorganisms require xeronine to function correctly. Any stress situation increases the demand for proxeronine in our body, this is where noni juice can help.
    • AMINO ACIDS are the components of protein. There are 20 amino acids and 9 of these are essntial and must be taken in by our diet. It is very unusual to find a plant that provides all the essential amino acids. Morinda citrifolia does provide all of these and all but three of the non essentials. Goodnoni® is rich in amino acids compared to other noni juices.
    • SCOPOLETIN has been described as having hepatoprotective activity, antibacterial, anti inflammatory properties, inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus areus, Streptococcus sp., Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis. Scopoletin has shown regulating effects on abnormal high levels of blood pressure in individuals drinking noni juice.
    •ANTHRAQUINONE increase intestinal activity, have a de-toxifying effect, and control infectious bacteria. To mention is here DAMNACANTHAL, Rubiadin, Morindone and LUCIDINE, these particular substances show a powerful slowing effect on the growth of tumours by inhibiting important enzymes needed to form tumours.
    •ALIZARIN another anthraquinone also slow tumour growth as well as fighting leukemia. It is of interest to note that alzarin also inhibits the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
    •TERPENE combats fungal and bacterial infections. Anectodal reports claim that claim that terpenes are helpfulin the treatment of glaucoma and reducing the side effects of chemotherapy.
    •PECTIN a fibre is a non cellulose complex sugar and performs important functions within the gastrointestinal track which have ramnifications on the entire health of the body.
    •DIABETES Xeronine, the alkaloid of noni in the presence of insulin activates the peripheral cell membrane insulin receptors and helps for the normal absorption of glucose.
    •ANTIOXIDANTS demonstrated protectionn from free radicals under conditions of oxidative stress produced by heavy smoking.
